2015 North Western Italy
The tour will begin in Rome and work its way towards Milan staying relatively close to the Western coastlines of Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria. Week long sojourns in villas and on agriturismo properties will allow for half day and day trips to many fascinating sites of historical and cultural interest.
Following a couple of days in and around Rome, we will move north towards Lake Bolsena and deep into Etruscan territory. For the second week we will be based near Pisa. Then it will be on to the Cinque Terre region for an extended period before finishing with a few days in Genoa and Milan.
As always, there will be lots of layers to uncover and themes to explore. Villas, gardens, hill towns, rural walks, museums, churches, boating excursions, literary and musical connections, culinary treats etc – all the familiar ingredients of an Italian journey.
